Topic: Who's in the driving seat for cloud computing?

Background: Cloud computing has found new friends in enterprises during the recent recession. Driven by the need to shed costs, IT departments are looking at outsourcing infrastructure, platform and software services.
Does this mean a shift in market influence from enterprise hardware and software vendors to service providers?

YES! As cloud computing grows, primary product differentiation will be in the services delivered. Services will drive the market and the use of technology. Hardware and software will become commoditised.

NO! Hardware and software technologies will continue in driving seat and determine "service differentiation." The only real change will be that technology will become less visible to the end user.
