A new polysilicon solar project will be established in the eastern Indian city of Haldia as part of an integrated solar complex, including a power plant, at a total cost of about Rs.5,357.31 crore ($1.25 billion).

There's an update on the news (http://www.eetindia.co.in/ART_8800541209_1800007_NT_51c1268f.HTM) as well. Jyoti Poddar recently told the press that production at this unit will start by October 2011.

India is to get its first polysilicon manufacturing plant, which is to be part of an integrated solar power complex, and coming up at a total investment of about $1.25 billion.
