In an effort to reduce its dependency on Google's Android platform, the world's largest smartphone seller Samsung is planning to merge its very own "bada" operating system with Tizen, an open source operating system project led by Samsung and Intel.

When the integration is finished, Tizen will support mobile applications written with bada’s SDK. That support will include backwards compatibility for previously published bada apps, reported Forbes. Post-integration, bada and Tizen developers will be given the same software tools (SDKs and APIs). The idea is that if developers know how to programme in bada, they will understand how to make Tizen apps, too.
