Two-year old predictions of a double-digit growth in the board design market until 2010 are still doing the rounds. Yet, India's predominantly service-based business model is now under threat from a strengthening rupee, rising wages and a depleting talent pool.

The nascent PCB design industry just cannot survive these challenges. Do you agree?

The key differntiating factor that the design houses in India should address is the need to provide a value proposition. current design houses are primarily handle manual routing and CAM validation and in some cases library development. Having been a founder and succesfully transited to an acquisition, I have gone throught this process of building a delivery team that focuses on how you could provide design optimisation and analysis based solution approach. There is still a lot of demand, but what we lack is trained manpower. There are no focused training propositions in this field and most of it is learnt by going through the grill. With my 38 years of experience in this field, I fell that we still can get lot of business provided we minimise the total cost of realisation to the customer.
I am open to look at contributing technical articles, if need be in this field.
