Yoshida has not mentioned the availability of handsets as one of the factors, which is surprising. With most people in the eligible category opting for Blackberrys,i-Phones and other popular devices, most of which do not support Mobile TV tuners, the spectrum of devices which a potential operator can target is very small. The author is trying to portray "Mobile TV is not Easy" by citing just the cases of one or two implementations of DVB-H. The issues which DVB-H has with spectrum, licensing and availability of handsets are well known. But there are also many success stories spanning from US,Korea and Japan and vast parts of Asia. http://www.mobiletvhome.com

The year 2008 has seen a moon landing, but nothing could move the mandrins to bring out an enabling policy on mobile TV. The year 2008 had begun with the TRAI announcing the policy guidelines for Mobile TV and it was hoped that the licensing of the service will take place soon, afterall India is the second largest mobile market in the World. However the hope was belied. With MTNL launching 3G soon, at least some users would be able to see what mobile TV would look like and hopefully this will bring some pressure for licensing of these services. http://www.mobiletvhome.com
