The ARM ecosystem and its evolution |
|---|
Courtesy : ARM Ltd. A picture is worth more than a thousand words, I really like this picture as it tries to describe the success of ARM and its SoC/ecosystem partners. There are various factors that make ARM SOCs successful, in a single word it is the "integration" that makes the difference. Each ARM SOC is different in its own sense, some times focused on a particular segment and at times it is focused on a particular technology and so on... overall the technology achieved by ARM and its integrated components should meet the exponentially growing demand of the industry in a defined time. ARM has interesting eco-system, the SoC providers: like Texas Instruments, software providers: to suit user demands, like Linux, Microsoft WinCE, Android, QNX, eCos, etc... and last but not the least the App market. In my upcoming blogs I will touch upon a few SoCs, the complexity of integrating peripherals on a single SoC, the software development process, app development and achieving the overall success by collaborating with an Open Eco-system.
